Ice cream and summer: a perfect combination!
Mass-produced or homemade . In a tub  or cone . With milk or without milk. Regardless of presentation or recipe, it is almost impossible to resist a delicious ice cream during the summer. There is a huge variety of flavors. Check out a brief history of ice cream in Brazil and worldwide
Ice cream is a nutritious food. It is a source of protein, carbohydrates, calcium and vitamins. However, it must be eaten in moderation, especially if it is made from milk, sugar and other fatty  ingredients. In this case, ice cream is very high in calories. Brazil is the fourth largest consumer of this food in the world, after the USA, China and Japan. There are several versions of the origin of ice cream. The most common is that this delicacy  appeared about 3,000 years ago in China. At that time, the Chinese found out that fruit and honey mixed with snow made a different and delicious food. Some historians believe that ancient peoples, such as the Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans, also produced this dessert, mixing snow with other foods. From the 15th century, the Europeans added other ingredients to ice cream, such as milk, eggs and flavorings . In the United States, the first ice cream factory was opened in 1851. In the late 19th century, the North Americans created two new recipes: the sundae and the banana split. The first popsicle  emerged in 1905, in Italy.
